Coating test
The maintenance and control of cathodic protection systems requires a reliable reference electrode. Our reference electrodes have a number of favorable features as the suitable porosity of the ceramic body and the special filling material assuring very long lifetime and stable potential.
Main parameters of RÉZ-1 type:
Expected lifetime: 15 years Application fields: permanent deposition, controlling of automatic CP-station, active drainage (in the presence of varying stray current sources). *Measured against the standard hydrogen electrode
Main parameters of RÉZ-3 type:
Expected lifetime: 15 years Application fields: permanent deposition for system control. *Measured against the standard hydrogen electrode
Deposition of the electrodes Permanently deposited electrodes have to be laid near to the cathodically protected objects, e.g. oil or gas steel pipes. The distance between the pipe and the electrode must be about 10 cm (4 in), but the electrode should not be in contact with the pipe. In desert soils a vertically placed plastic pipe (diameter 2-3 in.) perforated at the bottom has to be placed beside the electrode and ca. 10 l water should be poured onto the area of the electrode through the pipe every 3 month. In case of a continuously working automatic CP control system the pilot electrode should be embedded in about 20-40 kg (44-88 lb) bentonite (the upper limit refers to very dry soils) and it has to be watered regularly through the plastic pipe. This way the electrodes can be used for a long time. Quotation (valid to year 2015):

VEKOR manufactured RÉZ-4AE reference electrode When stray current cannot cut off on the steel structure, then potential of the pipeline can be measured only with the widespread auxiliary electrode method. The theory of this method is a suppose. If an auxiliary electrode (piece of a steel) made of the pipe’s material is connected to the pipe, then the potential of this auxiliary electrode demonstrates the effective functioning of the protection at a given point. The stray current can be ended if we disconnect the metal connection between the pipe and the auxiliary electrode, thus the switch-off potential of the electrode can be measured. The electrodes are installed with 3 m long three-wire copper cable. There is a different wire for potential measuring, and other two wires connect to the auxiliary electrode. One of these two wires can be used for current measuring with ammeter shunt inserted, other can be used for low resistance connection to the auxiliary electrode. At installation, before burying, carefully covering of auxiliary electrode with soil is practical.
Application fields: control measuring with auxiliary electrode. Quotation: 125 €/pcs.
VEKOR manufactured RézAE2 reference electrode When stray current cannot cut off on the steel structure, then potential of the pipeline can be measured only with the widespread auxiliary electrode method. The protection can be evaluated better, if the formed protective current free and stray current free structural potential of the steel structure is known at the given point at the moment of the measuring. For modeling this, one more iron piece (non connected to the protected structure) is located on the reference electrode. The electrodes are installed with 5 m long five-wire copper cable. There is a different wire for potential measuring, and other two-two wires connect to the auxiliary electrode. One of these two wires can be used for current measuring with ammeter shunt inserted, other can be used for low resistance connection to the auxiliary electrode. At installation, before burying, carefully covering of auxiliary electrode with soil is practical.
Application fields: control measuring with auxiliary electrode. Quotation: 145 €/pcs.
VEKOR manufactured RÉZ-6 reference electrode This reference electrodes (which also can be used for calibration) have a number of favorable features like suitable porosity specially lathe-worked poplar bung and special filling material assuring very long lifetime and stable potential. Main parameters of RÉZ-6 type:
Quotation: 68 €/pcs.
Main parameters of RÉZ-7 type:
Main parameters of RÉZ-8 type: Beside the long lifetime and high stability reference electrodes a more simple and cheaper one is also needed. The new Réz-8 type has a plastic body and an appropriate porosity ceramic disc guaranties the contact with the soil. Special content load which is also used in more expensive electrodes gives long life operation and stable potential. The electrodes are installed with 3 m long MKH 4 mm2 type copper cable. On request the cable can be longer.
Quotation: 56 €/pcs, the price does not contain tax. The quotation is valid for December 31, 2013. Auxiliary electrode for reference electrodes Commissioning and controlling cathodic protection, application of reliable reference electrodes are needed. When stray current cannot cut off on the steel structure, then potential of the pipeline can be measured only with the widespread “Pritula” method. The theory of this method is a suppose. If an auxiliary electrode (piece of a steel) made of the pipe’s material is connected to the pipe, then the potential of this auxiliary electrode models the potential of the structure formed on the coating fault location. The stray current can be ended if we disconnect the metal connection between the pipe and the auxiliary electrode, thus the switch-off potential of the electrode can be measured. In the practice, this is equal to the potential of the protected structure, thus cathodic protection can be evaluated. Vekor Ltd. has been producing auxiliary electrodes for reference electrodes. This small, known surfaced steel sample can be stuck to the surface of the pipe, and can applied well for the “Pritula” method. Technical data of the auxiliary electrode:
